Diminished Chords

Diminished chords for me was one of the hardest things to understand. I really didn’t know what they were or where to apply them to a song.  What a diminished chord is is just a chord that is based off the 7th tone of a scale, and it is used allot in gospel styles and jazz styles. So like in the C scale if you look at the 7th tone which is B the only version of the B chord that is relevant to the C scale is the B diminished chord. Like the B major wouldn’t be because it has two black notes in it. The B minor wouldn’t because it has one black note but the B diminished which is B, D, and F would be. And usually you will use that chord as a passing chord that you will pass off of to get to the 3rd tone of the scale. But one of my favorite chords is the Diminished 7th chord. There is only 3 versions of the diminished 7th chord and you can use it in allot of ways. A C diminished 7th chord is the C, Eb, Gb, and A. And from C if you form one of the Db, and off the D.
