Yamaha DGX640- Review and Best Price.

This is going to be a review of the Yamaha DGX-640, I purchased this keyboard a while ago and so far I am very happy with it. But I cant say that I have ever been dissatisfied with a Yamaha keyboard yet. So here is a little bit about the keyboard and what I think about it.

I read all the reviews, used it in the store, and also compared it with other digital pianos. Generally there really is hardly anything else like the Yamaha DGX-640 with this price range. In my judgment, which is as subjective as anyone else, the feel of the keyboard is really as realistic as everything else I played. Face the facts, acoustic pianos never all feel the same. Neither do digital pianos. However from a certain price point, all of them are fairly credible. 535 voices. The very first 142 are really very good. Some… better than others. I think the pianos, organs and woodwinds are particularly excellent. The brass sounds great. The string ensembles sound much better than the solo strings. Synths are synths and the percussion and drum kits are fine. The next 390+ voices are XGlite samples that are an older sampling technology. Still okay but not As good. This is where Yamaha throws the kitchen sink at you. Every instrument imaginable and some that have not appeared even during my darkest dreams. About one hundred thirty sound effects that you can probably do without such as popcorn, fireworks, car crashes and stuff. 100s of effects. Reverbs, tremolos, delays, choruses, and so on. I’ve had this thing a week and have not been anywhere near a great deal of this stuff. It absolutely was a great idea for Yamaha to install a key pad so that you can punch in the number of an instrument or effect rather that digging straight down through menus or scrolling through lists to locate what you’re trying to find. Actually, it really is solid like a tank when constructed. Not just a toy and absolutely nothing cheap about it. I must say I do not understand how it was just $799. You can do some serious playing with this thing or simply have endless enjoyment playing with it, and arranging and recording with the on board storage.
